A number of the GSA fashion shows were filmed and some of these films are held by GSA Archives and Collections, namely the films for 1978, 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1986. These show models on the stage plus in some cases backstage footage and/or stills, and the audience arriving at the venue. For four of the films held by GSA Archives and Collections, the soundtracks have been incorporated at the editing stage and reflect the songs played at the show.

This film comprises both the 1982 and 1984 fashion show films. The only exception is that the instrumental section with no images, at the end of the 1984 film, is not included here. This report details architecture student Harry A Wheeler's experiences when he travelled to Italy after being awarded the John Keppie Scholarship in 1948. The John Keppie Scholarship gave a bursary of £100 to one architecture student per year to fund a study trip of their choice. The focus of Wheeler's project was Loggias in Florence, Rome and Venice and the report gives biographical information on each Loggia studied. This report details student Pamela Mitchell's experiences when she traveled around Europe for three months upon receiving a travelling scholarship at The Glasgow School of Art in 1959. Mitchell was a student at the School between 1955 and 1959 and studied Textiles. She received the Haldane Travelling Scholarship which was a cash sum of £75. She visted the cities of Copenhagen, Hamburg, Basle, Milan, Venice, Florence, Ravena, Porto Garibaldi, Ferrara, Verona and Paris. The report is coherantly laid out with details of the time spent in each of these cities.

This report details student G H Barcham Green's travel experiences in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1957. Green won the Haldane travelling scholarship, a cash prize of £75 awared to one student per year at this time. Green was an Interior Design student at The Glasgow School of Art between 1952 and 1958. The report reads very much like a diary and gives a very personal account of Green's experiences. Also included is a list of addresses for both Italy and Spain.

This report details student John Holmes Gray's experiences when he traveled to Stoke-on-Trent, Holland, Belgium and Paris upon recieving a Travelling Scholarship at The Glasgow School of Art in 1954. Gray recieved the Haldane Travelling Scholarship which was the value of £75. Gray attended The Glasgow School of Art between 1949 and 1954 and studied Pottery. A large focus of the report is on the manufacturing processes that Gray learned in the Pottery Factories in Stoke on Trent and Holland. He includes various sketches of how these processes work throughout the report. He then goes on to detail his time spent in various art galleries and museums in Holland, Belgium and Paris.

The photograph album contains photographs of "The Immortals", including Jessie Keppie, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Herbert MacNair, Frances Macdonald, Margaret Macdonald and others of their circle.

The Moyr Smith sketches are from Moyr Smith's first published book Studies in Pictures. Smith trained in Glasgow, becoming influenced by Alexander Thomson and Daniel Cottier, moving to London in 1864.

Of great importance in this collection is a sketchbook of drawings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The sketchbook, dating from the 1890s, consists of 19 drawings of flowers, furniture sketches, and interior sketches of Craigie Hall, Pollokshields, Glasgow.

This collection contains architectural sketches that formed part of John Hinshelwood's training as a student at The Glasgow School of Art.

The collection consists of the surviving papers of the Needlework Development Scheme and over 100 examples of needlework. Of these examples, 28 are from Great Britain and 54 are examples of non-British work including examples from Greece, India, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and Bosnia. Items include ecclesiatical, domestic, costume, clothing and modern embroideries, tea cosies, funeral pall, clothing, lace work, wall hangings, samplers, linen work and cushion covers.

The surviving papers include a complete inventory of 1012 items that were part of the Needlework Development Scheme prior to its dispersal in 1961. This provides information on the original numbering scheme used for the needlework examples and also provides information on the provenance of each item, although this is not necessarily the creator of the item but the person from whom the item was received, as well as a description of the item itself. There is an inventory of the parts of the collection received by the Glasgow School of Art, insurance details concerning the collection and the correspondence of the Needlework Development Scheme, 1931-1941.

This material may contain sensitive information about individuals that is protected by the Data Protection Act. Until this material has been checked for sensitive information, it will not be available for researchers. Once this Data Protection work is complete the collection will be open for access, however any sensitive information will be closed and inaccessible for 75 years from the date of creation.

Textile work by Glasgow School of Art students and staff, including examples of woven textiles, some of which are most likely to be submissions for degree shows, while others seem to be submissions for an RSA Bursary Competition. Some creators are known, others are yet to be identified.

There were an additional twelve medium canisters attached to the coffered ceiling both above and below the library balcony, making 24. Originally there were also four additional medium hanging pendants in each of the south and western window bays, though these four lights, and the medium canister in the librarians office, had all been removed before the fire in 2014, meaning there were 48 in the library. The library was destroyed by the fire, though many metal fragments from the lights were salvaged.
