Embroidery and weave samples

A collection of embroidery and weave samples done by Kath Whyte and her students.

Includes "making colour move" samplers produced with members of the Embroiderers' Guild and block/grid counted samplers done post-retirement.

Also included are a ringbinder of Cults (38/T/1/3) weave samples, weave samples by Mrs Mairet (38/T/2) and cuttings from a handwoven cape by Hannah Frew Paterson (38/T/2/1).

Material related to designing a board game to be used as a teaching tool for students of architecture and construction courses. Created by both Chis Platt and another student, David Smith, as they decided to design this game instead of writing a 10,000 words essay. Features two items: the commission report, and the game equipment in a wooden box. This special subject output was submitted in October 1980.

The Third Eye Centre: A side project

Architectural drawings on rolled greaseproof sheets to study the design of The Third Eye Centre in Glasgow as a side project which had been directed by the tutor of the third full-time year course. It consists of two sheets, a large rolled sheet, and a small rolled one. Greaseproof sheet has been used due to its cheap cost, stated by the architect.

This paper studied the social life of people in the industrial era in the 19th and early 20th century from some of cities and towns across Britain. It addresses the development of both urban and suburban design associated with the style of massive house building programmes that accommodated immigrant factory employees.
