History

Robert Hood was born in Glasgow in 1883, the youngest of seven children of Sarah and Robert Hood, a clothier. Robert attended The Glasgow School of Art from 1896 to 1900 and 1903 to 1909 as a part-time student of Design. In 1911, he was living in Dennistoun with his five sisters and working as a carpet designer. During the First World War, he served as Lance Corporal in the Highland Light Infantry. Robert Hood is commemorated on The Glasgow School of Art's First World War Roll of Honour.
