  dear Sir

I have just returned from London where I have been for a few days, else I should have answered your kind letter sooner. I shall be very happy to receive the balance which you tell me is in your hands, of the sum subscribed for the portrait of Bailie Moir [?] which I painted. I know there was some difficulty in getting up the money at last. Horatio McCulloch was my very intimate friend and I knew R.M., Cooper and Bill Mason and I.M. Donald, very well. Mason was a nephew of the Kembles, his mother being a sister of the great Mrs Siddons. He was a grand heavy looking fellow, but unfortunately took to the bottle and went to the D 1. The last time I saw him was in Tottenham Court road standing against a lampost haranguing a lot of little boys who were evidently bent on mischievous fun with the drunk man, but were awed by the grand Caricature [?] like style of poor Bill. I believe he is dead long ago.

I should very much like to see the Scrap books, and also the portrait of Allan Ramsay, is it Ramsay the father -the Pact [?] s Ramsay the son, the portrait painting.

The first time I'm in Glasgow I'll endeavour to let you know, and perhaps you will kindly show them to me.

This item is an identification key showing each student depicted in the photograph on the poster under the reference number GSAA/EPH/10/204. It was created by Katie Hawson who was a volunteer at The Glasgow School Of Art Archives and Collections in 2013. Eddie Stewart, a former painting and printmaking tutor at the school helped Katie to identify each individual.

A variety of designs completed by Archibald Haswell Miller, including book covers, commercial artworks, and religious designs. Some of these items are dated to his time as a lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art.

A variety of designs, correspondence, ephemera and photographs related to Archibald Haswell Miller. A large amount of items are dated to his time as either a student or a lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art.

A number of sketches and photographs of works by William Meldrum. This collection includes his figure and illustrative drawings, unique pieces made of seaweed, and series of monochrome photographs featuring landscape paintings. Most of the items are undated; however, the dates of creation are presumed to fall between the 1890s and 1920s. A set of typewritten paper by an unknown author at least after 1966, features Meldrum’s brief biography and descriptions of two drawings along with their custodial histories.

William Meldrum tended to work on depicting city views of Glasgow in the early 20th century and landscapes of diverse areas in Scotland. He created multiple pieces of black-and-white photographs on which his paintings have been printed; some of the photographs have identical versions.

A variety of loose artworks, cover designs, correspondence, ephemera, and photographs completed by and belonging to Archibald Haswell Miller. The collections includes proofs for book covers and pamphlets, personal correspondence relating to his studies and subsequent career, different ephemera relating to Haswell Miller's student days and photographs of artworks and students and staff members of The Glasgow School of Art.

This collection also includes material relating to Georges-Marie Baltus (DC 098/2) , including photographs of his artworks and his Italian and European trips, and Francis H. Newbery (DC 098/3).

Variety of materials relating to the works of Dorothy Doddrell, including designs relating to the creation of First World War Roll of Honours; designs created by Doddrell; life drawing studies; and reference materials.

This poster advertised the Interior Design course offered at The Glasgow School Of Art. The poster details the structure of the course and the vocational opportunities that could be gained with a degree in Interior Design. The poster also stipulates the entry requirements for the course. These were a minimum of 5 SCE passes or 3 at Higher grade, or 5 GCE passes, 2 at A level. It was mandatory that two of the subjects passed were Art and English.

This poster advertised a farewell dinner for staff member Lennox Patterson. Patterson is known for his illustrative work done in linocut and scraperboard and was a student at The Glasgow School Of Art before becoming a lecturer in graphic design as well as Deputy Director of the school. The dinner was held in the Bourdon Hall in the Bourdon building on the 20th of December 1979.

This poster advertised a competition at The Glasgow School Of Art. Entries of feature films, documentaries and animation work were encouraged.

This poster advertised a screening of Ernest Pintoff''s film Dynamite Chicken at The Glasgow School Of Art. The event was organised by The Glasgow School Of Art Film Society who organised many film screenings around this time period in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre. Tickets for this event cost 30 pence. The reverse of the poster is annotated with "Chris Webster Graphics '78".

This poster advertised a slide film and sound show of Bruce Lacey's Mechanical Ballet. Lacey is an eccentric character known for working with sculpture, sound and performance and has been featured in a number of British films including the Beatles' film 'Help'. The screening was held in The Haldane Building on the 15th of April 1971. Lacey screened a number of stills from his ICA exhibition during this event.
