History

Gavin Hadden Dennison, born 18/02/1898, attended The Glasgow School of Art during the 1914-15 session. During this time he undertook evening classes in Architecture. He resided in Auldhouse Road, Newlands and his occupation is noted as 'architect's apprentice'.

In February 1927 incoming passenger records show that a Gavin Dennison (of Newlands, Glasgow) travelled back to the UK from Halifax (Canada) via Cunard steamship. He is noted as being an Engineer.

There is also information on Ancestry.co.uk to suggest that Dennison joined the Merchant Navy in 1921, served as an engineer aboard the Durenda in 1923, and died in 1966. However, the actual records which evidence these facts were not viewed as part of the research for this article.
