History

There are two men called James Clark listed in the School's World War One Roll of Honour. It is not clear if this is a duplicate entry. James Clark was born on 14 January 1894. He first enrolled at the School of Art studying architecture as an evening student in 1910, giving his occupation as Apprentice Architect and his home address as 1001 Sauchiehall Street. He enrolled again following the same course for the next three years, then is missing from the register until 1918-1919. He then attended each year until 1920-1921. During this second period at the School his home address was 50 St Vincent Crescent. Of the two James Clarks listed on the Schools Roll of Honour, one is recorded as serving with the Highland Light Infantry the other with the Royal Engineers. Unfortunately, without further biographical information, it is difficult to be certain that this is the same student and and it has not been possible to confirm war service from millitary records.
