History
Mary Flora B. Buchanan (born 13/01/1895) attended the Glasgow School of Art between 1915 and 1918. As a Student, and then Teacher, at the College of Domestic Science, Mary studied a course that was created in conjunction with both the College and the GSA. This focussed on needlework and the treatment of particular fabrics, as well as design, and colour composition. In her first year, Mary attended afternoon classes, and then in her second year she attended Saturday classes, particularly focussing on Needlework. In her final year, she continued to study Needlework on Saturday mornings, taught by Ann Macbeth. Mary lived in Hamilton, and then moved to Hyndland in Glasgow.
