Centre for Textile Conservation – Working with GSA Archives and Collections

Over the last few months, the Archives and Collections have been working with students from the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Textile Conservation (CTC).  The students are currently working on a project to conserve T-shirts from two of our collections. The CTC published a blog on the project a few weeks ago, which has been reproduced below.  The original blog can be found at http://textileconservation.academicblogs.co.uk/a-collaborative-project-with-gsa-archives-and-collections-introduction/.  You can also follow the CTC on Instagram @UofG_CTC.  A collaborative

They have been busy repackaging our Fraser Taylor and Glasgow 1999 Festival t-shirts recently and we were pleased to get the newly beautifully boxed garments back last week. The students have kindly allowed us to re-blog the following piece about their experiences… All images courtesy

Textile repackaging

We have been repackaging the textiles to protect them for current and future generations and allow for easier retrieval from storage.  The transparent packaging also allows the textiles themselves to be
